Building Strong Relations in the Cebu Jiu-Jitsu Community

July 13, 2017

Before Pato Studio Cebu Jiu-Jitsu came into the local Jiu-Jitsu scene, we were just a collection of displaced martial artists due to the dissolution of our old team. We banded together and kept training in a small garage owned by one of our friends.

Why? Simply because we love Jiu-Jitsu and we love to train together.

The only people we were able to rely on during this time of need was the Cebu Jiu-Jitsu community. Some of our friends who joined other teams would drop by every now and again to our humble garage to train with us. At the same time, we would also seek training with other teams in the community. It was an amazing experience to be welcomed with open arms by different teams in the community.

With no team or affiliation ourselves, it was a struggle to find our own footing and to find a good fit for our style of Jiu-Jitsu training. Through a very close friend, we eventually found the perfect association to represent. Pato Studio is the brainchild of Daisuke Nakamura & Kohei Nishibayashi, both well respected high level Jiu-Jitsu Black Belts based in Tokyo, Japan. To this day, we are very thankful and lucky to have them accept our request to become part of their Jiu-Jitsu family.

During our time of hopping from one gym to another, we forged relationships with people, relationships that we do not want to forget. We also realised that we enjoyed training with these different people and wanted to have the chance to train with them again. So at Pato Studio Cebu Jiu-Jitsu it has become one of our missions to build stronger relationships within the Cebu Jiu-Jitsu community.

Pato Studio Cebu Jiu-Jitsu understands that many Jiu-Jitsu practitioners are already paying for membership fees at their respective teams. We want to take away the worry of having to shell out extra money to be able to train at our Studio. This is why we are proud to say that we offer FREE open mat sessions at our Studio every Sunday from 8:00AM – 10:00AM, open to ALL TEAMS, ALL THE TIME.

Why? Simply because we love Jiu-Jitsu, we love to train together, and we’d love for you to join us!
