Deftac Cebu Family!
Deftac Cebu made history as head coach and instructor, Norman Go, received his Brown Belt from his mentor, Prof. Alvin Aguilar last January 14, 2012 during the Alvin Aguilar Seminar held at Baseline Sports Complex and Recreational Center. This was a momentous day for Deftac Cebu and Cebuano Jiu-Jitsu. Norman Go, one of the pioneers of Brazilian Jiu-jitsu in Cebu, is also the first local boy to be promoted to brown belt on the island. Norman, a very dedicated and passionate student of the gentle art, has been doing Jiu-Jitsu for over six years, and has been teaching for almost four years. He has been producing homegrown Jiu-Jitsu champions who have competed in various local and international competitions since 2008.
Prof. Aguilar also awarded this year's first batch of new stripes and belts to deserving individuals. Purple belts were awarded to Leo Quincy "Puti" Gaerlan, Bryan Espino, and Keeno Jingco. Blue belts were awarded to Carl Rizon, Carlo Siguan, Philip Alkuino, Mikhail Wu, Vaughn Donayre and Vijay Vasandani.

With over 55 individuals who participated in the seminar, the event was a success. We learned the newest techniques from our head instructor and also witnessed the promotions of our teammates and our coach.
Now, equipped with new techniques, belts, and stripes, this could only mean that the Deftac Cebu will continue to become bigger, better, and stronger. A brown belt, 4 purple belts, and close to 30 blue belts, Deftac has cemented itself once again as the top Brazilain Jiu-Jitsu team in Cebu and one of the best, not only in the Philippines, but also in Asia.
